The 10 prioritized “New Bali” destinations include:

Tanjung Lesung, Banten
Thousand Islands (Pulau Seribu), DKI Jakarta
Borobudur Temple, Central Java
Mandalika, Lombok
Mount Bromo, East Java
Wakatobi, Southeast Sulawesi
Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara
Morotai, North Maluku

Do you still remember those iconic lyrics? They belong to the soundtrack of Laskar Pelangi (The Rainbow Troops), a masterpiece film directed by Riri Riza and released on September 26, 2008. Adapted from the bestselling novel by Andrea Hirata, Laskar Pelangi became one of the most-watched movies in Indonesian cinematic history.

Years later, the stunning beauty of Belitung Island showcased in the movie remains deeply etched in our minds. It is not just about its unique granite-sand beaches and pristine nature, but also its rich cultural heritage and traditions. It is no surprise that Belitung has earned its rightful place among the 10 New Balis.

Accelerating Destination Growth Through Digital Innovations

Despite its incredible potential to attract global travelers, Bangka Belitung still requires extensive collaborative support from various tech and industry sectors. To address this, the Department of Biology at IPB University (Institut Pertanian Bogor) hosted a specialized tourism workshop tailored for tourism stakeholders in the Bangka Belitung province. The event took place at the Grand Hatika Hotel on Friday, July 26, 2019.

During this session, they delivered presentations and led interactive discussions on leveraging digital technology within the tourism ecosystem. The topics covered the optimized deployment of business websites, mobile applications, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategies on Google, and robust cloud infrastructure to support booking portals. Through these digital advancements, Cloudmatika aims to empower local tourism operators to boost visitor numbers, streamline booking experiences, and accelerate regional economic growth.
