Enabling the Backup Feature in Cloudmatika Cloud Backup
By using Cloud Backup from Cloudmatika, you’re taking a smart step toward securing your data. Before you begin enabling the Backup feature in Cloudmatika Cloud Backup, make sure you have a Cloudmatika account with an active Cloud Backup subscription. If not, please click here.
Once you have a Cloudmatika account and a Cloud Backup subscription, please follow these steps:
- Log in to your account on the Cloudmatika dashboard website
- Enter the Username and Password associated with the account you created
- After logging in, ensure the subscription menu located in the top right corner is set to Cloud Backup
- Then click the Backup menu, as shown in the following image:
- Click Log into Backup Console (if you’ve already created a Backup User) or click Add New Backup User (if you haven’t created a Backup User)
- Here, I go directly to the Backup Console by clicking Log into Backup Console
- A new tab will open to the Cloudmatika Backup website
- You’ll be taken to the Add Machine option; select the operating system you want and that matches your system.
- Here I am using Windows Servers, because I am using Windows Server 2012 R2
- Download the file, then run the downloaded file
Before installing, ensure the following TCP ports are not blocked by the firewall: 443, 8443, 7770 .. 7800, 44445
- Click Install to install it on your Windows system
- Log in using your Backup User account
- Wait until the installation process is complete, then click Close
- Return to your web browser.
- The following screen will appear in your Cloud Backup account:
- Click ENABLE BACKUP, then configure it according to your preferences. For example, I use the following configuration: Here are the configuration details available in Cloudmatika Backup:
| Parameter | Decription |
| What to Backup | This is the option for what you want to back up.
|
| Items to Backup | This option is available only if you are backing up disks/volumes and files/folders. Please specify the location of the disk or files you want to back up |
| Where to Backup | This is where you store your backups on Cloudmatika Cloud Backup |
| Schedule | This feature runs backups according to the set schedule and will back up your server automatically.
|
| How long to keep | A feature to set the backup retention period. |
| Encryption | Used to set a password to secure your data. Enable it and enter a password of your choice. |
Once all configurations are complete and to your satisfaction, proceed by clicking APPLY
Then run the Backup by clicking RUN NOW. The backup process will run for the first time, and the duration of the backup process depends on the total size of your data. Automatic backups will run according to the schedule set in the previous configuration
